Tips for a Healthier You
It is easy to get swayed by all the delicious food that we see out there so setting out for a healthy lifestyle could be quite challenging. It is also overwhelming so you are probably not sure where to start. In this blog, we will be providing some tips to help you switch to a healthier lifestyle and how to stick with it forever.
You read that right. Transitioning to a healthy lifestyle should not be a sudden decision. It is more likely a commitment between you and food but the difference is you have more freedom because you can always go back to your old eating habits and dump your healthier lifestyle in just a snap. With that said, it takes a lot of courage to fight temptations and to completely resist it. Most importantly, you have to be fully determined!
Here are some things that you need to keep in mind to help you have a head start as you start living healthy:
Drink a glass of water before each meal
Water is very essential to keep your body running smoothly. There are so many health benefits that you can actually get. Some of the benefits are it supports healthy digestion and prevents constipation. It will also keep you from overeating due to hunger.
Have a healthy plate
A healthy plate means making half of your plate veggies. Even when you are on a diet, veggies can give you the nutrients that your body needs. Veggies are packed with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients important for health and longevity.
Download a fitness tracker app
Make the most of your smartphones and download the app that can track the number of steps you took each day. The target steps for a healthy adult is at least 10,000 steps per day. It takes a lot of walking but always remember, it is for your own sake as well.
Do simple exercises
There are exercises that you could easily do at home and it won’t need a big space. You can jog in place, do sit-ups, or jumping jacks. Make time for it daily and it will give your lifestyle a huge positive change in the long run.
Get sunlight every day
Remember those baby stories you hear from your mother or grandma where they always bring you out in the morning to get a little sunshine? Even then, we are aware of the benefits we could get from the sun. There is also a perfect time to catch healthy sunlight. It will be from 7am to 9am which is also the best time to do your morning exercises. You can jog outside of your house and be with your friend or loved ones.
Stand up every 30 minutes while working
Stretching and walking for a minute or two every 30 minutes while you are working is a good practice to reduce the harmful effects of sitting all day long. If you are feeling exhausted, stand up for a little while and do some stretching. This will also help you avoid being drained from being in front of your desktop or laptop every day.
Establish a positive mindset
Having a positive mindset does reflect in your mind and body. As you may know, people have different body reactions when it comes to stress. Other people tend to overeat while others are losing weight. It is important to take care of your physical and mental health because those two always go hand in hand in keeping you safe and well.
Get enough sleep
One of the most important things to remember and apply is to get enough sleep. When we sleep, that’s the time when our whole body and mind recharge. Sleeping late affects your concentration, mood, and overall health. You might have experienced being irritable due to lack of sleep. There is only one way to avoid it and that is to get enough rest that your body needs.
Do things you enjoy
What are the things that you enjoy? Does it include binge-watching on Netflix? Whatever that is, make sure that you do it but set a time limit because it is also unhealthy to just be in front of the television all night. You can also divide the time between doing things that you enjoy. Squeeze it in your schedule no matter how busy you are.
Try to smile as much as you can
A smile goes a long way as it boosts your physical and mental well-being. Be an example to the people around you and spread that contagious smile that can light up the room. Even if there are bad situations, face them with a smile and find a solution to solve them.
Be courageous enough to overcome your fears
You know that feeling when you first rode a roller coaster? You have experienced the adrenaline rush of excitement and nervousness of conquering your fears. Remember that feeling of happiness when you finished the ride? It will be a million times happier than that when you overcome your fears in life.
Be Grateful
Count your blessings when problems are overwhelming you. See through the bright side and be grateful for the people around you. There is a reason why people come into our lives, some people pass by to teach us a lesson and others will stay through thick or thin. Whatever the situation is, be grateful.
Being healthy does not only mean physically, it is like a package that comes with your mental, emotional and spiritual health. Healthy living also means treating yourself from time to time without compromising your health.
